“Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.” Matthew 24:12-13
I believe this is not only a call to stand firm but to continue to love. We have seen the horror of wickedness this past weekend. As this wickedness grows in the last days, Jesus says most will grow cold. We as believers cannot be one of the most. We must be one of the few who continue to practice the warmth of love. We must not give up or give in to the cold that surrounds us. We must stand firm and endure to the end. Not just so we can be saved but so that others can see the warmth and love the resides within us and recognize its Source. That Source is theirs as much as it is ours.
Thank you Lord for this reminder. Keep my heart soft in the midst of the brutality and wickedness of of this world. Empower me with your strength that I may stand firm and be the light of warmth and love that you have created and called me to be. May your Spirit move in people’s hearts that they may be drawn closer to you, recognize your love for them, and cling to you as their own. Help me to be a faithful witness to who you are and may your love never cease to flow through me. Thank you, Jesus for the hope that we find in you especially as the wickedness of the world increases. I love you, Lord. Thank you for loving me first. Help me to share that love with the world. In your precious name, amen.
