I was minding my own business, just taking a few moments to read God’s word when those words jumped off the page and grabbed me by the throat. “No one has ever seen God; BUT if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” 1 John 4:12(emphasis added)
Those three letters just wouldn’t let go of me, “b-u-t.” They were a charge, a challenge, a responsibility. I couldn’t walk away from them. As hard as I tried I couldn’t accept the notion that surely God must be speaking to someone else.
How does the God of the universe, creator of all things, reveal himself to the people of this world? Is it through a thunderous voice, or words of fire scrawled across the nighttime sky? Is it through earth-shattering images of Himself suddenly appearing across mountain ranges or sculpted on the faces of glaciers? Is it through tyranical demands of worship and adoration under the threat of total inhiliation and destruction?
No. So intimate and personal is His love for the people of this world that He chooses to deliver His immense and all consuming love through the frail, flawed, and broken vessels that are His children. WE are what make Him visible to others!
I’ve heard many a Christian say, “I just don’t know what I’m gifted at. I know I should be serving the Lord, but I don’t know what I should be doing.” If we are children of God we have already been given the greatest gift of all time… His love. And that is a gift that is meant to be shared. Being filled with that gift and sharing it makes God visible to those He puts in your path.
Don’t miss any opportunity He gives you to make Him more visible. LOVE, BROTHER AND SISTER! LOVE!!!
